چکیده

We prove limit theorems for small-scale pair dispersion in synthetic velocity fields with power-law spatial spectra and wavenumber dependent correlation times. These limit theorems are related to a family of generalized Richardson’s laws with a limiting case corresponding to Richardson’s t3and 4/3-laws. We also characterize a regime of positive dissipation of passive scalars. © 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Simulation of Low Reynolds Number Isotropic Turbulence Including the Passive Scalar

Full simulations of homogeneous isotropic turbulence containing a homogeneous passive scalar were made at low Reynolds numbers and various Prandtl numbers. The results show that the spectral behavior of the two fields are quite similar; both fields decay as power-law functions of time. However. the decay exponent is quite dependent on both the Reynolds and Prandtl numbers. The decay exponent of...

Scale Dependent Intermittency and Conformal Invariance in Turbulence

We present a conformal theory for intermittent scalar fields. As an example, we consider the energy flux from large to small scales in the developed turbulent flow. The conformal correlation functions are found in the inertial range of scales. In the simplest case, the theory leads to the log-normal model. Parameters of the model are expressed via integrals of the conformal correlation function...

Hydrodynamic and hydromagnetic energy spectra from large eddy simulations

Direct and large eddy simulations of hydrodynamic and hydromagnetic turbulence have been performed in an attempt to isolate artifacts from real and possibly asymptotic features in the energy spectra. It is shown that in a hydrodynamic turbulence simulation with a Smagorinsky subgrid scale model using 5123 mesh points, two important features of the 40963 simulation on the Earth simulator Y. Kane...

On the ERG approach in 3 − d Well Developed Turbulence ∗

We apply the method of the Renormalization Group (GR), following the Polchinski point of view, to a model of well developed and isotropic fluid turbulence. The Galilei-invariance is preserved and a universality behavior, related to the change of the stochastic stirring force, is evident by the numerical results in the inertial region, where a scale-invariant behavior also appear. The expected p...
